Resilient Generations is the result of the founders career in child and youth care, academic training, and work experience on the continent of Africa. Jacqueline’s connection to Africa dates back to her childhood as one of the first children to go overseas with the Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO) in 1967 with their parents. Her professional practice is rooted in the field of child and youth care with a specific focus on youth. Jacqueline’s first MA was the development and evaluation of an employment program for disadvantage youth in Kenya in the early 90’s with the support of a CIDA award. Beginning in early 90’s, spanning 8 years, she worked as an evaluative consultant in Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia with a specific focus on youth employment. Experiences with youth in Africa and Canada lead to questions about resilience. Her PhD in Human Development focuses on coping and adaptation for youth in nine zones of conflict in Africa. This work has exposed her to the plight of African youth and the imminent demand to address the needs of the high numbers of unemployed youth in Africa. Resilient Generation is a social enterprise the addresses the psychological and economical need of youth in Africa through the delivery of services and sale of product.
